In Memory of Ken

Today’s shoot reminded me many times of shoots I’ve been on with my good friend and photo-mentor, Ken Atkinson. He shot birds and blossoms almost exclusively. I took another path, as viewers of this blog will know, but I’ve always appreciated the lessons I learned from Ken on good bird photography. There were, as I recall, three: Make sure the photo is pin sharp, focus on the bird’s eyes, and keep the image pin sharp!

We were at Lost Lagoon in Stanley Park today – one of Ken’s favourite shooting locations. And, wonder of wonders, the weather cooperated! In fact, the filtered sunlight was perfect for shooting subjects on water.

This one’s for you, Ken.
